Surgery Scheduling/Operations Consultant

The preferred candidate for this position would be a highly motivated, metric-driven, experienced surgery scheduling consultant who has significant experience with academic and/or large regional medical centers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive surgery scheduling operational assessments
  • Understand SHC data charts, interpret them accurately to client, and work with data department to develop new and improved charts
  • Provide client recommendations to improve the effectiveness of perioperative case and patient flow in accordance with best practices
  • Facilitate group processes as a scheduling content area expert
  • Design and implement new block schedule programs; revise and re-implement existing block schedule programs
  • Function as consultant on multiple client engagements simultaneously

Requirements

  • Demonstrated track record as a surgery scheduling consultant
  • Strong background in interpreting data
  • Understanding of OR scheduling information systems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a consulting team
  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, nursing, business, clinical informatics, public health, or a related field.
  • Advanced degree and Six Sigma Lean training highly preferred
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills
  • Proven ability to present formally to nurses, physicians, and administrators
  • Current US or Canadian passport
  • Ability to work in the United States and Canada
  • Willingness to travel at least 80% of the time
  • Residing in close proximity to a major airport

Senior Perioperative Consultant

The preferred candidate for this position would be a highly motivated, metric-driven, experienced perioperative consultant who has significant experience with academic and/or large regional medical centers.

  • Provide client recommendations to improve the effectiveness of perioperative case and patient flow in accordance with best practices
  • Facilitate group processes as an implementation director
  • Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously

Requirements

  • Demonstrated track record as a perioperative/surgery consultant. Big 5 consulting firm experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a consulting team
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, business, clinical informatics, public health, or a related field. Advanced degree is highly preferred.
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills
  • Proven ability to present formally to nurses, physicians, and administrators
  • Current US or Canadian passport
  • Ability to work in the United States and Canada
  • Willingness to travel at least 80% of the time
  • Residing in close proximity to a major airport

OR Interim Director

The preferred candidate for this position would be an RN with significant experience as a perioperative director.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage the overall operations of the OR in accordance with hospital policies, standards of nursing practice, and governmental and regulatory agencies for the perioperative areas
  • Address management issues identified through hospital process improvement efforts
  • Customize department reporting structure per hospital perioperative organization chart:
    • OR
    • Pre-/Postoperative Anesthesia Care Units
    • Preadmission Testing
    • Central Sterile Processing
    • Same Day Surgery Unit
    • Endoscopy Unit
    • Outpatient Center
    • 23 Hour Stay
    • Postoperative floors
    • Specialty Procedural Areas
  • Provide administrative and financial accountability for planning, directing, staffing, coordinating, and controlling functions and activities of the OR
  • Monitor and propose improvement initiatives related to hospital customer satisfaction processes
  • Participate in preparing annual operations and capital expense budgets; direct necessary analysis, factoring financial need into budget projections, and present per hospital protocols
  • Provide monthly analysis and reporting of revenue and expenses per hospital processes
  • Administer data collection system for staffing utilization, room utilization, and preparation of periodic productivity reports used at the hospital
  • Maintain or propose revisions to programs for staff retention and recruitment, continuing education, and competency-based learning
  • Participate in perioperative standing committees and hospital-wide committees as assigned
  • Communicate with physicians and work closely with the Medical Director to maintain a high standard of medical care and development of client relationships with surgeons
  • Assist with recruitment and transfer of the OR to a new director
  • Perform duties as assigned by the Chief Nursing Officer

Requirements

  • Demonstrated track record as a perioperative director
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a consulting team
  • Active RN license
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, business, clinical informatics, public health, or a related field. Advanced degree is highly preferred.
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills
  • Proven ability to present formally to nurses, physicians, and administrators
  • Current US or Canadian passport
  • Ability to work in the United States and Canada
  • Willingness to travel at least 80% of the time

Sterile Processing Department Interim Manager

The preferred candidate for this position would be an RN with both OR management and SPD management experience.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage client SPDs full time for three to twelve months or longer
  • Implement project team recommendations
  • Develop quality and performance measurement tools
  • Perform short- and long-term planning
  • Develop budgets (staffing, equipment, materials)
  • Perform cost/benefit analyses

Requirements

  • At least three years of SPD management experience
  • Certification in Central Services
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, business, public health, or related field
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to lead and motivate while managing change
  • Current U.S. or Canadian passport
  • Ability to work in the United States or Canada
  • Willingness to travel at least 80% of the time
  • Residing in close proximity to a major airport
